The business program of the event was opened with the Panel discussion: Problems of sewage filtration and effective water use in Ukraine.

The following topics have been discussed:
1. What are the current volumes and structure of waste water discharge into water bodies? Are there any changes over the past 5 years? What are the main trends?
2. What projects in the field of sewage treatment are in the active phase and what will their implementation lead to?
3. Changes in legislation: is it a key factor for improving the environmental situation?
In particular:
- transfer of special water use regulation to the regional sectors of the State Agency of Water Resources
- lack of Sanitary Rules and Norms for discharge regulation and separate documentation of Maximum Permissible Discharge
- lack of legislation mechanism for stimulating recycled water reuse and consecutive water supply
- insignificant punishment for illegal waste water discharges.
4. What needs to be done by the central and regional authorities to improve the effectiveness of sewage treatment activities?
